President Bola Tinubu has officially inaugurated the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, naming former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as Secretary.
The announcement, contained in a statement issued Saturday morning by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, places Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima at the helm as Chairman and Vice-Chairman I respectively. APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda was named Vice-Chairman II, while National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman take on the roles of Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary.
Tinubu will be supported by a team of advisers comprising Bisi Akande, Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy director-generals for the South and North zones, working alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was named Deputy Director-General for Mobilisation, while Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila takes charge of Administration. James Faleke, who played a pivotal role in the party’s 2022/2023 campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring, coordinating zonal directors across the six geopolitical zones: Senator Olushola Adeyeye (South-West), Dr Ngozi Olejeme (South-South), Senator Uche Ekwunife (South-East), Muntaqha Rabe (North-West), Ahmed Muhammed Ketso (North-Central), and Senator Sani Danladi (North-East).
The election planning directorate includes Stella Okotete, Abdullahi Garba Ramat, and Audu Maikori as secretaries, while the legal directorate is led by Muiz Banire, SAN, with deputies Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala.
For media and strategy, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris serves as Coordinating Director, working with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga, and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala, and Felix Morka were named coordinating deputy directors, with Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Temitope Ajayi, Aderonke Arabirin, and Frederick Nwabufo as coordinating secretaries. Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, with Solomon Arowolo as Secretary.
The council also appointed five spokespersons, led by Alake, alongside Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu, and Adamu Fanda.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu told the council members, charging them to work tirelessly for victory in the January 2027 polls. “We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians.”
He urged directorate leaders to reach out to party members not formally listed and draw them into the campaign effort.
“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet,” the President declared. “Let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation. Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards.”
